4WD Upgrades

Our plan is to travel off the bitumen as much as possible. We want to get out and really explore as many little tracks as we can. To do this, you need to ensure that your tow vehicle is up to the challenge!

As our 2007 Toyota Prado was pretty much standard, we upgraded it with the following:

  • 2″ Lift
  • Ironman Foamcell Pro Shock Absorbers
  • Ironman Deluxe Bullbar
  • Ironman Snorkel
  • 2 x 9″ Driving Lights
  • Redarc Tow-Pro Brake Controller
  • Thumper Air Compressor
  • Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 17″ tyres
  • Roof Rack/cage with Canvas Roof top Bag
  • Rear cargo barrier
  • Roof-top Side Awning
  • Dual battery system
  • GME UHF Radio

We also needed to ensure that we could get ourselves out of trouble – should the need arise.

Our Recovery Gear

  • 48″ High Lift Jack
  • 1200lb Ironman Monster Winch
  • Hercules Recovery Kit (Snatch strap, Snatch block, Tree protector, bow shackles, and the super important winch dampener)
  • Uniden handheld UHF CB Radios
