We are finally on the road! I have been waiting for this time for so long and this is it!
We left from my cousin Mitch and Jordyns’ house to go to Princetown, which is near the Twelve Apostles, on the Great Ocean Road.
We arrived at 3:00pm, and found a great spot that was right next to the playground. After we finished setting up, I went for a ride on my bike around the place. I found a cricket ground, cricket nets and a few kangaroos. Sleeping day 1 was really annoying because it was raining all night.
When I woke up there was this massive big puddle. For breakfast we had bacon and scrambled eggs on toast. A few minutes later I saw a herd of kangaroos hopping across the cricket ground. After that we went for a walk on Crayfish Bay, I saw a lot of sea sponges all sizes – some small and some large. I also saw 2 small starfish, walking on the rocks was slippery. When we got home, Mum and Dad moved the camper so that it wasn’t near the puddle, night 2 was a lot better then night 1.
Thursday morning I played cricket with Dad and Lachie. Lachie got out on 35 and I retired on 56. Midday we went for a drive to the Twelve Apostles – they looked so awesome, it was the first landmark of the trip! When we got home Dad got the rods ready to go fishing. While it was raining we did some 4wd driving first, it was fun but the bad thing was that we got home with no fish. When we got home I relaxed, and Mum and Dad were packing things away. For dinner we had a BBQ with salad. After we all had our dinner Mum and I went for a ride up the road.
Friday morning I woke up at 6:40am because we are leaving Princetown to go to Port MacDonnell in South Australia. We arrived at 3:00pm, it was a 6 hour drive. During the drive we stopped and got a couple of things. We found this really good spot, over the back there was a beach.
For dinner Dad, Mum and I had steak and salad, Lachie and Madi had sausage and salad. After dinner Dad and I went fishing – all we caught was an octopus but we threw it back because it was too small. When we got back we sat down and watched the footy and then we went to sleep.
Saturday morning I woke up at 5:50am because Lachie, Dad and I went fishing. The tide was low so Dad ran to the water to get the bait over the waves, but no bites. For breakfast Lachie, Madi and I had pancakes, Mum and Dad had bacon and eggs. After that we all went to Mt. Gambier to see Dads’ old house, where Dad learnt how to fish. When Dad was young he built up a BMX track and I got to ride on it. We also went to the Umpherston Caves, there were lots of flowers and bee hives everywhere, and much more. It was a quiet night after that.
Sunday morning we all went for a walk down to Browns Bay beach, and for breakfast I had pancakes and French toast. In the afternoon, Dad and I went fishing again and we still didn’t catch anything. When we got home we sat and watched North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Melbourne Demons. Kangaroos won by 5 points. For a while Mitch and I Facetimed and messaged. After that Mum, Dad and I had cheese and biscuits.
Dad and I woke up at 6:10am to go fishing on our last morning in Port MacDonnell, but still we didn’t catch anything. Dad said “there’s a reason why we were the only ones on the jetty”. When we got back home I had a shower and packed up. We went to Nhill to stay with Aunty Shirley and Great Nan. For dinner we had party pies, sausage rolls and nuggets – it was really yummy. It was a quiet night so I could still go to sleep, except for the noisy train.
