So, the countdown is on!
We have both given notice to our workplaces, all of the initial trip planning and dreaming is done, and we are all systems go!
In exactly two months we will be on our way, and driving out of Melbourne. Although we’ve done a lot to get to this point, sitting here in my lounge room, I realise we still have soooo much to do!
I am very much a list person, and love the satisfaction of putting a tick next to the completed tasks. My to-do list at the moment is huge, and it seems that for every item that I tick off, another is thought of and added! But, all is good, and I’m confident that we’ll get there 🙂
Whilst we decluttered a huge amount of ‘stuff’ earlier when we sold our house and relocated to a short term rental, we still have so much. At this stage, it basically comes down to sell, store, donate or dump. That is the mammoth task facing us at the moment. We have a 3 bedroom house, complete with the belongings of 5, that we need to downsize to a single camper trailer and a very small storage unit. Even though this is such an overwhelming task, I know it will be very liberating. I am firmly of the belief that we have collected and collated so much excess ‘stuff’ that is just not needed!
In addition to the decluttering, we also still need to sell our (beloved, and still very new) second car, and update/change our mailing addresses with the numerous financial, superannuation, car-related and insurance institutions that we belong to.
The other major task that we need to do is finalise our travel route. Whilst it will largely be a very loose plan, we still need to decide on a direction of travel. With a few key markers on key dates we will continue to work on this over the coming days.
